The Quarter Horse Unit now has shades in its
pastures thanks to a generous gift from Jack and Shirley Ivey, long time
friends of the Quarter Horse Unit.
Jack and Shirley Ivey of Selma, California have had a
long association with Fresno State's Quarter Horse program. They
raised and showed the Quarter Horse stallion, Husky's Dude, whose sire,
Poco Husky, stood at our campus Quarter Horse Unit.
"I've always liked to come to the Quarter Horse Unit,
especially to see the mares and their foals, but I always wished the
pastures had shades, to shelter the mothers and babies from the
hot sun and rain", said Shirley Ivey.
Thanks to their gift, shades have been built in all 10
pastures.
The pasture shades are a great addition to the
Quarter Horse Unit. Our program's friendship, over the years, with
the Iveys, is particularly meaningful.
Thanks very much.
